Icann (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) announced that it will be increasing the amount of website domain suffixes, and taking applications starting next year.
These extensions will include any word and will be in any language. But don’t get too excited, it will cost about $185,000 to apply for the suffixes, a price only the big corporations will be willing to pay for.
Interesting regulations for the .kids or .xxx could permit greater parental control, but we can foresee complicated legal battles of ownership over the “.names”. Only time will tell!
